Embedding Wellbeing into Deecon’s EVP: The Role of Heka

The Challenge

When the Head of HR & Recruitment joined Deecon, the business had minimal formal benefits in place. There was also a limited Employee Value Proposition (EVP),something they recognised as a crucial gap. Deecon’s CEO had two key priorities: attracting top talent and identifying impactful benefits that would truly resonate with the entire team.

With a small but growing team, and many employees approaching major life milestones like buying homes, starting families, or getting married, the need for a more proactive, flexible approach to health and wellbeing became clear.

“I felt that an allowance would be spent on shopping/bills/socialising, and I really wanted something where people were forced to think about their health and wellbeing on a regular basis - but not everybody wants to go to the gym! We needed a future-proof benefit to be part of our EVP, something versatile that supported our people at all stages of life and aligned with our culture.” - Maria Tooby, Head of HR and Recruitment.

Finding the Right Solution

Deecon explored several options on the market, including mood-tracking apps and EAPs. They were frustrated to find that most solutions identified problems but didn’t provide actionable, human-centric solutions or support.

“We’re a very human-first environment. Whilst tracking moods can show patterns, we needed something that actually helped people when they were struggling or simply needed motivation.”

True flexibility was the only solution

Heka stood out for its flexibility and depth of offerings, ranging from fertility testing, therapy and nutritional support to pottery classes and everything in between - all available virtually, online, or for delivery.

The fact that the platform was founded from personal experience, and was UK-based gave it a relatable, responsive edge.

“The versatility of Heka really sold it to us. Knowing it was created with real experience behind it, and having UK-based support, just made it feel like the right fit. This added to our private health cover and created a cushion of support for our people. It really creates that proactive approach to health and wellbeing, encouraging our people to think about themselves, whether it is wellbeing, (mental and physical),  self-development (training and coaching), or anything in between.”

Working with Heka

Heka helped Deecon by:

  1. Providing an all-in-one wellbeing solution tailored to individual needs
  2. Supporting employee retention and engagement
  3. Forming a core part of a future-proof EVP

Feedback from the team has been overwhelmingly positive, with employees expressing gratitude for the platform and the opportunity to prioritise health in ways that work for them.

“Heka has helped people take control of their wellbeing, whether that’s therapy, fitness, mindfulness, or something totally different. We've had people tell us they’ve taken up new wellbeing habits thanks to Heka. That kind of impact makes it all worthwhile.”

The results are impressive

  • Retention Rate: 86%, rising to 93% from January to present
  • Team Growth: From 23 to 54 employees over the past 2 years
  • Recognition: Sunday Times Best Place to Work 2024 & 2025
  • HR Infrastructure: Implementation of a HRIS for deeper insight and reporting

Seamless Management

Heka has been simple to manage. New joiners are added as they onboard, and loyalty-based allowance increases are applied monthly through close collaboration with the account manager.

“It’s easy to use and fits well into our workflow. We now reward loyalty by increasing allowance over time, and the monthly check-ins help keep everything aligned.”

Looking Ahead

As Deecon continues to grow, Heka remains a vital part of its people-first strategy. With plans to scale across sectors, building strong systems and a robust EVP will be central to success and Heka plays a major role in that.

“Heka helps us support our people in real, human ways. As we scale, that foundation becomes even more important.”

Conclusion

Deecon Consulting enhanced its approach to employee wellbeing with Heka, evolving from offering minimal wellbeing benefits to now providing their team with over 5000 health and wellbeing experiences at their fingertips.

They have a flexible, meaningful EVP that supports individuals at every life stage. With strong engagement, rising retention, and seamless implementation, Heka has proven to be a powerful partner in Deecon’s growth journey.
